Prostatitis Symptoms
Pain in the testicles, penis or perineum?
Difficulty initiating your stream of urine?
Urinary incontinence?
Pain with urination and ejaculation?
Low back or lower abdomen pain? Does this sound like YOU?
Most likely you ended up in your doctors office or the emergency room with some/all of these symptoms and were diagnosed with prostatitis. Blood work and urine samples were collected and then you were probably started on a course of antibiotics. Symptoms started to get a little better right? And then they hit a plateau. Now its been a few months and several different rounds of antibiotics but you're still having pain!
Types of Prostatitis?
There are four different kinds of prostatitis:- Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome
- Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
- Acute Bacterial Prostatitis
- Asymptomatic Inflammatory Prostatitis
Many of our patients with prostates end up stuck in the pain cycle of chronic prostatitis. So often these patients avoid care because of the private and sensitive nature of the symptoms. We can treat them through a combination of stretching, and trigger point release. Both internally and externally. We also will teach you how to properly breathe and relax the pelvic floor. Proper toileting positioning can also help reduce the strain on the pelvic floor.
Your physical therapist will also give you homework to practice some of these stretches on your own.
